Our Story

We believe that people protect what they love, and to combat the climate crisis, people must have a deep and meaningful connection to the outdoors.
When it comes to the extinction and climate crisis, you have two choices:
do nothing or do something.
Freyja Foundation is how we are doing something.
ROOTED IN THE WILD

Freyja Foundation is grounded in a belief in the transformational power of wild places – the sense of connection to something larger than ourselves, and the recognition that we all come from the wild and remain part of it.
Building on a legacy of charitable giving, Freyja Foundation was established in 2017, when Anne Deane reoriented her family’s philanthropy toward large-scale land and ocean conservation across South America. Today, Freyja develops projects focused on ecosystem restoration, permanent protection, and sustainable livelihood development – pairing philanthropy with impact investing to build models that endure both ecologically and financially.
I go to nature to be soothed, healed and have my senses put in order.
